Where We Started

Smith Timber Works was founded in 2004, born from a passion for carpentry and well crafted buildings — and a modest goal to support fly fishing and mountain biking habits.

The company started with a Toyota pickup, a tool pouch, a flip phone, and a desire to build something of lasting value. Along the way, we have been fortunate to build friendships with like-minded individuals who share the same values: craftsmanship, dedication, and a commitment to building with purpose.

Where We Are

Today, STW operates from a permanent prefabrication facility, and is powered by a skilled team of awesome people. We are proud to collaborate, design, fabricate, and deliver projects to Williams Lake, the Cariboo-Chilcotin and across North America.

Our position in the industry and the marketplace continues to grow, and we take pride in executing projects that challenge and inspire us. With a proven track record of successful work that brings both value and beauty to our clients, we’re proud of the physical operation we’ve built—and we remain committed to evolving and honing our craft.

Where We’re Going

We’re energized by the momentum we’re building within the industry — and we’re committed to carrying that forward with purpose into the Cariboo and beyond.

Our mission is to create value by building connections that last — with our clients, our collaborators, and our communities. We’re focused on fostering long-term relationships, creating equity for all participants, and being a leader in a changing landscape where buildings shape how we live, work, and grow.

What started with a single truck and a simple vision has grown into a company delivering meaningful work across Canada. And we’re just getting started.
